Music.

Satvinder Sehmbey is a senior student of the U.K’s leading Tabla Masters, Pritam Singh. Through his teachings, he has obtained a 1st class degree in Tabla with honours from the Ravi Music College an affiliate of Pracheen Kala Kendra, Chandigarh University, Punjab, India.

He has performed extensively around the world exposing the art of Indian classical music to all, giving workshops, lecture demonstrations and performances.  

He has collaborated with musicians, dancers and visual artists from diverse genres and has performed at Glastonbury, Cambridge Jazz Festival, The Seoul International Women’s Festival in South Korea, Harballabh Sangeet Samelan India and many more.

Art.

Satvinder is an artist who seamlessly blends the world of art, travel, culture and storytelling in an inspiring, imaginative and skilful way. He travels the world to capture the essence of the people and the destinations he visits, to inspire others to ‘Learn the Art of Travel.’  

Through his photography work, Satvinder has had numerous exhibitions, published work online and has featured in a number of interviews and podcasts where he shares his journey of what “Learning the Art of Travel’ means to him. 

In addition to travelling the world, Satvinder has had the opportunity to capture a diverse range of musicians in performance at Moseley Folk Festival, Shambala, CMAT Recording Studios and many more.

Education.

Satvinder provides tailor made one to one sessions to teach the art of tabla to all ages and abilities from beginners all the way to BA Hons Tabla level. He also works with percussionists and rhythmists from all genres to transpose the language and intricacies of the tabla onto the drum kit, cajon, congas and more...

He has worked with a range of organisations in the arts sector and higher education institutes across the UK including (University of the Arts London) to deliver engaging talks on ‘The Rhythms of North India’ and interactive and practical workshops on ‘Rhythms for Health and Well Being’. 

He has also designed Pritam Singh’s book, ‘Tabla Tutor’, a comprehensive tabla manual that is a two-year study course for beginners. This unprecedented work coincides with and supports the national curriculum for music and The Nation Plan for Music (Department for Education, DfE).

Satvinder also has been working in the Higher Education sector for over a decade and works in the Creative Shift Team which helps Shape Diversity in the Creative Industries.
